My First Experiences in US

Well, Finally i could tak out sum time to write abt the place most of us dream to visit atleast once in a life time...n ur rit...Im gonna write about my first experiences in US....aha...to be precise its Jacksonville. Florida...Its around 4:02 pm here....n its a bright sunny friday afternoon....and unlike any other day the library im in is currently very very free....why not..afterall its friday afternoon....the unofficial beginning of the week ends here ;)

Well the few things that enthralled during my first visits outside my home(again dont call it home dear...call it a condo...yup!) are:
  • First day afternoon...my husband(can call him chandu) was driving me to an indian restaurant....wow that was a relief after all the junk i had during my flight journey (wats tat called...salmon...crossients..etc etc) and i was longing to hav my lunch.... I was surprised to see homes ...not really homes...but houses without boundary walls....houses without boundary walls???? Are you kidding me....?? well not ofcourse....i thought tat to be a bit wierd..but its true here.....u see row after row of houses all similar if its the same community...i wonder if people need to keep a mark to make outtheir house ;)...well thats not the case anyways...

  • After having a sumptuous meal at 'Mayuri's' -run by a gultee.....;) v left for wal*mart...the 24hr shopping mart, were u get everything from a safety pin to a boat! I pulled out a cart n started luking out for the things v need to start cooking from the next day at home....I was busy staring at the mart while my husband trying to show up his xperience piked out a few essentials n then headed towards the counter...n here cums my next observation...The counter lady started her routine greetings...hey hello....how r u? n befor u catch the words n reply shes making your packs ready....So kids....always be ready to say Hi,hello! how do u do...im fine thank u.....n good day(tats after ur thru wit ur purchase).....Oh btw Always keep a smile on ur face...want to know why?? coz anyone on ur way mit smile at u and say a hi to u.....n if u dont return the greetings u mit be considered to be rude....N for this reason keep ur heads high n wait patiently coz any1 mit say a hello to u......Cheeers America!!!

  • N the road network....I actually did not hav time to see all this the first night i travelled from the airport to r home...actaully chandu was hyper thrilled driving a BMW...ofcourse not his , but his frens....n i havnt had the nerve to ask him to keep his beak shut!..... hell! the road network here is really too much planned n it really freaks u out...miss one turning n ahaa u cant tak a bak turn lik in India (I luv my country for that)...u need to look out for another exit way (tats wat they call it here...yet to understand though)...tak a left or rit or watever....beware dont slow up or u mit be hit or honked....Did i forgetto tell u that there are speed limits here to travel on roads...always keep an eye on ur speedometer....u cross the speed limit n a blue light cums flasing from behind....wanna know whose the funny guy in there...its the COP or the sherriff ready to fine u with a ticket...so dear check out on ur speeds! Driving here is no easy....the yields, stop signs n what not...i guess transportation engineers here had a lotta free time those days ;) N u know wats the funniest part here...people honk only wen they see that ur at fault or not following the road rules.....Its meant to mean like the drivers yelling- Marna hai kya?? ghar mein batake aaya??? types remarks in India.....I miss the Pom...Pom sounds of bustling indian roads here for sure....oieeee....i forgot to tel ya....People carry GPS systems to travel on roads...i understood that its a S/W that tells ur location on the road, the route to ur destination n etc etc.....again folks here feel they r using technology...but the fact is u dont find people ready to help u or even answer ur question...but bak in our country, u peep outta window n theres a crowd of onlookers ever ready to help u find ur way out....

  • After a few weeks of this routine....i was once taken to a library....N believe me, this is the loveliest part in US....its a university library, n i being a student at another univ thoutht that i mit sit and read here....I was standing at the entrance waiting for sum1 to cum check my identity n lemme in...well after wasting sum time there i found out that any1 can enter the library; unlike in my college..where u need to produce ur college ID to the gate wala n he mathces ur face with that in the Id and if everything seems fine he waves his hand n hahhhhh u r in the library...the library was damn good man....U can carry all ur belongings inside...not required to leav ur stuff outside (well, that was how it was in my college)....I produced my student Id n to my surprise she said i can issue books from this library as well...awesome! u need to find a book...wait wait...u dont hav to go take a candle in ur hand and start looking out...go to a system...giv the name of the book or the call number n u can get the location of the book....n i bet u would find the book precisely at its location...i wish i had this system down in my college..it would have saved a lot of our time n also ....N abt returning....oh u need not stand in lines to return ur books...there are drop boxes located which u can access without even entering the library...drop ur book in there n be relieved that it has been returned.....

well...lots more to tell ya all....but i want a hav a chocolate...ahaa...not from any shop but from a wending machine...put ur coins in there...n the chocolate cums outta there....
ciao...............
